The EU co-funded project ARTvocacy for the (U)nion is an invitation to rethink how young people, civil society, and communities across Europe engage with democracy, inclusion, and human rights. Instead of long policy papers or distant debates, ARTvocacy brings these topics to life through something everyone understands: creativity.
ARTvocacy combines art and advocacy – “artivism” – to create spaces where people can express, question, and shape the future of Europe together. Whether through music, theatre, storytelling, or digital media, the project turns creative expression into a powerful tool for dialogue and change. It recognizes that participation in democracy should not be limited to voting or formal discussions—it can also happen on a stage, in a mural, or through a shared story.
Built on the experience of the global MasterPeace network, ARTvocacy connects local initiatives to a broader European movement. It empowers youth and civil society organizations (CSOs) to take the lead, offering them skills, tools, and platforms to amplify their voices. This is especially
important in a time when many young people feel disconnected from institutions, and when trust in civil society is under pressure.
What makes ARTvocacy for the (U)nion project unique is its Trio model, inspired by the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU.
Each year, three countries collaborate closely—sharing responsibility, creativity, and leadership. In its first phase, Greece, Poland, and Portugal bring this model to life through three powerful artistic formats:
● A symphony that celebrates inclusion and diversity
● A theatre play that explores democracy and human rights
● A storytelling platform that amplifies voices for equality
Together, these activities create a living, breathing conversation about Europe—one that is accessible, emotional, and inclusive.
